Become a Supporter

Thirty years of stories. A new chapter to build together.

The sea has taken me across borders, into remote places and through more than thirty years of adventures, discoveries and difficult lessons. I’ve worked as a diver, captain, entrepreneur and conservationist. There is a lot to tell—and still plenty to do.

TheOceanRoamer is where I bring those experiences together, speak freely and invite you to take part in what comes next.

Stories that go deeper

I’ll publish one public piece every month, free for everyone to read.

Supporter members will receive two exclusive pieces each month: one new episode of Khartoum Siege, written each month as the series unfolds, and one further piece drawing on my experiences, photographs and archives, personal reflections or projects in development.

There will be adventures, encounters and accounts of what happens behind the scenes in marine tourism. I’ll also explore the questions that have stayed with me: how we treat wildlife, who benefits from tourism, and what responsibility comes with making a living from the sea.

Help build the next Ocean Roamers

I’m working towards the fullest expression of what Ocean Roamers can become: a socially and environmentally sustainable company, drawing on decades of experience to build businesses and projects that serve people and respect the marine world.

I want to build it with a community around it. People who share that ambition, question my assumptions, contribute ideas and bring knowledge I don’t have.

Your participation can help shape the stories I explore, the projects I develop and the choices along the way. When I ask for your input, I’ll explain what’s open for discussion and share what comes of it.

Support the work behind the stories

Finding a sustainable balance between commercial work and nonprofit commitments is part of this next chapter.

I helped found the International Association of Dive Professionals (IADP) with others because I believe our industry needs it. The Brussels nonprofit has its own mission, and helping it grow remains a central commitment in my life.

Your support helps sustain my publishing and the time I contribute to IADP. It also gives me capacity to develop initiatives such as Op Caribe here in the region, turning the principles we advocate into practical work in marine tourism.

My voice, in my own name

Here, I can question industry practices, challenge powerful interests and discuss subjects that deserve an open debate.

I speak for myself on TheOceanRoamer. IADP remains independent, with its own institutional voice. My opinions are mine, and you are welcome to challenge them.
